A life-threatening landslide was recorded at 1am, June 6 on the bank of the Saigon River, Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc district, HCM City, making around 5,000sq.m of land and two houses fall into the river.

At the time the houses were swallowed by the river, there were two persons inside. However, they were able to escape.

The landslide area is zoned for building villas and there was no abnormal phenomenon reported before.

According to local officials, around 2,000sq.m next to the site is now in danger. Many cracks of tens of meters have appeared on the site.

Local authorities are seeking reasons and measures to prevent further landslides.
